At Outsider we are passionate about ethical and sustainable fashion. We are approaching our 10th anniversary in 2019 and this has led us to reflect and want to understand our work better.
Our founder Noorin is currently undertaking the MA Fashion Futures at London College of Fashion. Outsider clients, and how they use their garments, will be part of the research she will conduct for her final Masters project.
Research
This is where we need your help. Noorin is undertaking two phases of research that we would like you to participate in:
We want to know how many items you have from Outsider, how often you wear them and why you chose to buy them. All participants will receive a £5 discount code to spend with Outsider.
What is a wardrobe study?
Essentially it is a 1 hour interview in your home, with you and your wardrobe. Selected participants will receive more detailed information, as well as cake and a £25 voucher to spend with Outsider.
Why are we doing this research?
Despite the rise in awareness regarding the harmful effects of the fashion industry on people and the planet, fast fashion retail remains the dominant business model.
As our consumption of clothing grows, the use phase of garments is getting shorter, according to research done by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation. This is unsustainable. We hope by conducting this research we can work towards active and practical solutions to the challenges we face within the fashion industry.
So, to all of you that have an Outsider garment, firstly thank you for choosing ethical and sustainable fashion. Secondly, please help us to improve what we do and how we do it by sharing your experiences.
Outsider. Sustainable and ethical fashion since 2009.
