This month's "Who's Wearing Outsider?" is with Sascha Camilli, looking fabulous in our
Tencel Victory Dress.
Sascha is the founder of vegan fashion magazine Vilda, which recently featured one of our shirt dresses in their article about
"Investment pieces". We were thrilled when she then shared some photos of how she wears another one of our styles.
We took the opportunity to ask Sascha a bit more about herself and her vegan fashion thoughts.
1. How long have you been blogging/writing?
"Wow...forever? My first professional writing assignment was in my second year of fashion university, which was over six years ago. My very first blog was born in 2006! I have been blogging on my current space, Coffee and Heels (www.coffee-and-heels.com) since 2011. My vegan fashion magazine, Vilda (www.vildamagazine.com) exists since the end of 2013."
2. What inspired your ethical/eco approach to fashion/style?
"I have been a vegetarian since I was 11 and as long as I can remember I've cared about animals and nature. When transitioning to veganism, I studied how everything on our planet is connected: we are connected to animals and nature, and living in harmony should be at the base of our existence. As I have worked in fashion for many years, finding brands that cared about ethics and sustainability was crucial to me. When I explored vegan designers and realised that fashion could contribute to this harmony, I felt like I had found my way."
3. What is your top tip for eco-fashionistas?
"Don't believe the voices that claim that all animal-free fabrics are bad for the planet, and vice versa, if you're vegan, don't just buy any old polyester garment. Research fabrics, materials, manufacturing processes. Do your homework and know who made your clothes, when and where."
