We are excited to announce that London College of Fashion is running a new short course in association with Noorin Khamisani, the founder and designer at Outsider.
It is a 5-day intensive introduction to all aspects of sustainable fashion design that will run during easter and summer 2018.
Sustainability is steadily becoming a part of mainstream fashion. An increasing number of designers are choosing ethical options and making more decisions with environmental and social impact in mind.
This course provides an overview of the opportunities raised by this shift in decision making. By exploring a variety of issues within the existing fashion industry Noorin also looks at solutions to the challenges posed by the need to work in a more sustainable way.
The course combines lectures plus group and practical design exercises covering the following areas:
- Sustainable design concepts
- The changing role of the designer
- Sustainable materials
- The fashion supply chain
- Lifecycle of a fashion product
- Case studies of inspiring and successful sustainable fashion initiatives
- Future trends within sustainable fashion
At the end of the 5-day course attendees will have a thorough and practical understanding of sustainable fashion design and the variety of approaches you could implement, either in industry or in your own practice.
The course is now open for bookings for easter and summer dates. For more details, visit the London College of Fashion website.
