Organic September is the UK's biggest celebration of all things organic. It's an initiative created by the Soil Association with the goal to make one simple point: if we all make small changes as consumers, we can create a big difference to our world.
This month is a time to remind ourselves that through our shopping habits we have the power to influence change. We are all encouraged, in at least one area of our lives, to spend money on an organic alternative. As Rob Sexton, Chief Executive of Soil Association Certification says: “If everyone makes a small change like switching to organic milk or choosing an organic moisturiser we can make a huge difference to our planet. Organic farms support 50% more wildlife, with 30% more species - that's more birds, bees, butterflies, beetles, bats and wildflowers.
A small change can make a surprisingly large difference - the average family eats enough bread in a year that if just 12 families make the small change to swap their bread to organic, an area of organic land a quarter of the size of the Wembley Stadium football pitch would be a haven for wildlife."
To help celebrate Organic September we have created an Organic Edit within our online boutique and are offering 15% off all our organic cotton clothing. Just enter the code ORGANIC at the checkout.
The Edit includes styles made ethically from 100% organic cotton, certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The whole supply chain, from field through manufacture to final fabric, is fully certified.
The Soil Association explains the reasons why organic textiles are kinder and cleaner:
We hope this will inspire more people to choose organic where possible. Stand up for ethical fashion.
The Soil Association have teamed up with Organic September sponsors Good Energy to offer one lucky shopper a year’s free supply of electricity. To be in with a chance of winning you simply need to visit www.soilassociation.org/win and tell them the organic product you bought this September. No proof of purchase is necessary although, as ever, terms and conditions apply – see here for full details.
