Fabrics

We are passionate about using alternative and sustainable fibres – almost half of the world’s clothing and textiles use dangerous pesticides or use large amounts of water during their growth or are made from oil – these are not sustainable or environmentally friendly options.

Organic Cotton – The production of conventional cotton kills almost 20, 000 people every year due to the use of pesticides.  Then more chemicals are used to turn the fibres into fabric, these chemicals are harmful for the environment as well as the people exposed to them.  Organic cotton is produced without the use of pesticides and chemicals, the cotton is grown using natural methods to control pests.  This is the way cotton was grown long before the development of chemicals like pesticides appeared.  Organic cotton producers have to meet GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) requirements in their growth and production.  Also our fabric supplier’s manufacturing units are certified by Control Union f.k.a SKAL (Netherlands).

Natural Colour Cotton – Cotton historically and naturally can grow in shades of green, brown and beige.  It is grown organically and means that the fabric produced is completely pure and natural – no dyes or chemicals are used in its production.  Our fabric supplier has both OCIA International organic certification and an OEKO-Tex award for textiles to ensure no harmful pesticides or dyes are used.

Merino Wool Jersey – The wool jersey we have sourced is from a supplier based in New Zealand.   A Renewable and Bio Degradable Fibre - Merino is the world’s naturally technical fibre which is renewable and bio-degradable. Its natural proteins will completely break down with environmental exposure to organic carbon and return to the environment in years to come.

Organic Merino Wool Suiting – The organic wool suiting we have sourced is from an Italian supplier which produces fabrics which are both eco-dyed and finished.  They buy the wool fibre from New Zealand and spin it into cloth in Italy.  It is light to touch but warm to wear.

Hemp – a quick growing crop which does not require pesticides and fertilizers, most of the time it is grown organically.  This plant is actually good for the soil it grows in!  It is one of the most durable and strong natural fibres, which means long lasting garments.  Hemp is also cool to wear in the summer and warm in cooler weather.

Bamboo Denim – like Hemp, Bamboo is a plant which grows very quickly and does not usually require pesticides and fertilizers.  The process which removes the fibre from the plant is usually chemical free which makes it a good environmentally-friendly fibre.  It is also very strong so will mean long lasting hard wearing clothes.  Bamboo is both biodegradable and recyclable.  Our Bamboo fabric is from a certified organic fabric supplier, certified by Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
